Dr. Cody Daniels, Medical Director

Dr. Cody Daniels was born east Texas, where he grew up on a ranch with cows, horses, dogs, cats, and many other animals. He developed a love of caring for animals at a young age and by primary school, he knew he wanted to be a veterinarian when he grew up. He was able to complete his undergrad and vet school education at the school of his dreams, Texas A&M University. After receiving his vet degree, Dr. Daniels was excited to obtain a position working at a Veterinary ER and referral center in East Dallas. It was there he realized his passion for emergency and critical care.

In 2020, Dr. Daniels elected to leave this ER to pursue opening his own. Before opening VEHM he worked relief at nearly a dozen ER facilities in DFW gaining further experience in how different facilities run before starting his own. Despite multiple delays associated with COVID and construction issues, VEHM opened on September 10th, 2021.

Elisabeth, Administrative Director

Elisabeth, aka “LiS,” serves as the Administrative Director for the Veterinary Emergency Hospital of Midlothian, where she oversees the full operational spectrum, including human resources, finance, compliance, strategic development, marketing, and public relations across VEHM’s expanding network.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Lis began working at just 15½ and discovered her calling in veterinary medicine in 2007 while still in college. Taking a chance on a veterinary technician position confirmed what she already knew; working with animals was where she truly belonged. Her early years in general practice, which often included emergencies and extended hours, laid the groundwork for her passion for emergency medicine, which she officially entered in 2011.

Since 2019, Lis has led practice management initiatives with a focus on building people-first systems in privately owned veterinary medicine. Known for her calm in chaos, she thrives in the unpredictable world of emergency care while guiding others with structure, empathy, and creative problem-solving. She’s driven by a deep respect for the resilience of the veterinary community; proving that private practice can be both compassionate and cutting-edge. Although she sometimes misses the hands-on patient care side, she finds purpose knowing her leadership work continues to make a difference; and she still loves jumping in on the floor when she can.

Outside of work, Lis enjoys rediscovering balance and wellness, supporting community outreach programs, and spending time outdoors. She shares her life with a fully rescued crew; a Cane Corso, a German Shepherd mix, and three cats.
